Greetings Healing Vine Harbor Family,
What a summer it's been at Healing Vine Harbor. 💜 While the days have stretched long and warm, our non-profit team hasn't slowed down for a minute. We've been right alongside the women we serve, showing up for them in crisis and celebration, while also stepping back to do the quieter but equally vital work of strategic planning and strengthening the foundation that makes everything else possible.
As we look forward, we've been reflecting on the impact we've made too. We summarized our 2025 impact in a comprehensive report that outlines the work we do and how that work has made a difference. We'd love for you to take a look!
The impact report tells the story of what's possible when HVH walks alongside women in crisis in the Charlotte, Mecklenburg area. Here are just a few of the highlights that we're proud to celebrate.
38 single women in crisis received 1:1 support from a dedicated case manager walking alongside her.
31 evictions were avoided through our emergency rent assistance, translating into an estimated $840K–$1.4M in system cost savings for our community.
15 TALK Workshops reached 36 women with real tools for financial literacy, stress management, and other critical life skills.
40% of our clients secured full-time employment with health benefits — a number we celebrate because it means stability that lasts well beyond our involvement.
594 Healing Bags were distributed to women in need across the county.
None of this happens without our community of supporters and volunteers. Every dollar given, every hour volunteered, every time you've shared our story is woven into these numbers. We can't wait for you to read the full report and see just how far your support has carried us this year.
Summer Workshops of Learning and Play
In June, our TALK Workshop was focused on learning the basics of financial wellness and life insurance.
Donnetta Collier from Self-Help Credit Union helped our ladies understand the importance of saving, managing credit, and stopping the cycle of debt. She shared small steps that can change their financial futures.
Keagan Wright with Antioch Financial and Insurance Group shared the basics of life insurance, including the purpose and benefits of life insurance, rolling over life insurance, how affordable it is, employer life insurance opportunities, and estate planning
These conversations are so important to helping our clients feel empowered when making financial and insurance decisions. We're grateful Donnetta and Keagan gave up part of their Saturday to invest in our women.
In July, we made space for play. We believe joy, community, and cultural experiences are just as essential to a well-rounded life as budgeting and job training — so we treated our ladies to dinner at Ming Fu, followed by a performance of Hairspray at Matthews Playhouse. An evening of good food, laughter, and a Broadway classic, together. (Note: You too can enjoy the musical through July 26. I highly recommend!)
