Healing Vine Harbor Services

HVH has two types of services. You can apply for #1 or #2.

(1) Apply to our year-long TEACH (Transforming, Empowering And Creating Hope) program 

  • Invitation to private monthly TALK Empowerment Lunch & Learn Workshops

  • Invitation to private EmpowHer Works Zoom Coaching Sessions

  • Be matched with a professional mentor 

  • HELP- Short-term emergency financial assistance and food assistance

  • Community Referrals (i.e., Crisis Assistance Ministries - rent & utilities, housing, furniture, etc.)

  • Healing Bags (Toiletries & Household Items)

  • Any additional services that may not be listed

(2) Help One-time Emergency Financial Assistance (non-participant)

  • One-time payment for a critical bill that impacts housing, utilities, food, or maintaining employment, paid directly to a third party OR referral to a community resource that can address this request when funds are not available.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Resident of Mecklenburg County

  • Unaccompanied woman or woman with children

  • Under 30% AMI-preference for Coordinated Entry, provide proof of income

  • Letter stating they are behind on rent and need to leave the unit within 21 days (preference for Coordinated Entry to provide letter)

  • Client has to want to remain in current housing (not move)

  • Healing Vine will catch up on rent (up to 1 month in arrears) and then applicant will be exited from the program if choosing the One Time Emergency Assistance service.

What’s next after you apply:

Our HVH Team will interview and evaluate each application on a case-by-case basis. We will carefully select applicants. We will notify qualified applicants after review within 48 - 72 hours (business days) if you have been accepted into the program or not, or if your one time request has been approved/denied. While you are waiting, we encourage you to explore every resource available to you to address your financial need.

Our HELP Team will follow up by phone or email, beginning with the most urgent requests, to discuss your situation and determine your eligibility for assistance.


The information in this document will remain confidential. In exceptional circumstances, permission from the client will be sought before any information is disclosed.

*What You Need to Apply

You will need to attach legible copies of the following with your application to be considered:

  • Picture ID of the woman applying for financial assistance. 

  • Social Security documentation for all household members: Social Security (SS) card, documentation from the SS Administration, W2 form from an employer, paystub with a complete SS number, or W7 if applicable. If you are not registered with the SS Administration, you must provide some form of ID such as a Passport.

  • Has there been any income in the household in the past 30 days? Include earned and unearned income. Include all paystubs received by any household members during this period. If anyone receives unemployment, SSI, SSA, VA benefits, retirement pension, child support, disability payments, or income from any other source, you must provide verification of that income. 

  • Past due utility bills or disconnection notices in the name of an adult who resides at that address, if applying for utility assistance.

  • Past due rent notices or court documents, if applying for rental assistance.

  • Rental lease or rental ledger to verify your residence if you are seeking rent assistance.

Please attach documents that show complete name, mailing address, dates, and amounts. Any missing items will cause application to be denied and you will have to reapply with all required documents. 

Referrals 

If you were referred to us by an agency, please provide a copy of the referral on the agency's letterhead, signed by the referring worker. Referring workers must submit their agency’s consent for release of information (signed by applicant), verification of homelessness (if applicable), documentation of your income [either a fixed income award letter dated within the last 90 days, or your two most recent consecutive paystubs (see item 40c in this application)], and a signed case summary on referring worker’s agency letterhead. The summary must include the following information:

  • Strengths and areas of concern.

  • Presenting issues (including health, mental health, substance abuse, housing and criminal history).

  • Employment information (length of service, position, salary, and schedule).

  • If not employed, source of income/amount received (award letters or statements from an awarding agency must have been issued within 90 days of the appointment date).
